NOTE: If you intend to get a website and a domain, we encourage you to sign up for our 30 day free website trial first, and then purchase your domain name within our domain management area. This will make it faster to connect your website and domain name together when you want to go live.
How to move an existing (pre registered) domain name to your Web Widgets website
- Login to web widgets and select the preferred website.
- Click Register Address in the left menu.
- Click "Setup web hosting for an existing .com domain name".
- If you want us to make changes to your domain name, then we need your username/password and name of the registry at the next step. If you want us to bill you for renewals of your .nz domain name, then you will need to send us your UDAI.
- Complete the form and click Submit.
- If you provide us with usernames and passwords/UDAI, the process will take 1-2 working days to complete. Otherwise we will send you an email with details.
Domain Name Setup Options (in order of our preference)
- Register a new domain name with us
- Transfer your domain name to us, and let us manage all your email and web setings. Renewals are required on transfer. Please unlock your domain at your current registrar and provide us with your Authjorisation Code and a forwarding email address.
- Leave your domain name with your existing registrar or choose any domain name registrar, and change your nameservers to ns1.cms-tool.net and ns2.cms-tool.net. In web widgets, select the domain setup/transfer option and provide us with your forwarding email address only. You will need to pay your domain registrar for future renewals.
- Leave your domain name with your existing registrar, and your email configuration with your existing ISP. In web widgets, select the domain setup/transfer option and tick "nameservers hosted elsewhere" and "email managed elsewhere". We will provide you with the following A record 210.48.69.34 so that you can make your web hosting live.(This option is not desireable as it could cause you an outage if our IP address ever changes.
Renewing Your Domain Name
It is important that you respond to any domain name renewal emails you get. We are not responsible if you fail to renew your domain on time.
We will invoice you 1 months prior to your expiry date. You need to pay your invoice early to ensure your domain is renewed. In some cases we will renew your domain automatically if we think this is best for you, and your accounts are all upto date. You will be liable for the renewal fee if you have not specifically told us not to renew.
Please mark your domain name as auto "expiring" if you do not wish to renew your domain at the end of the year. Or please let us know if you do not wish to renew your domain.
If you registered your domain name elswhere, then you must pay for domain renewal direct to your domain registrar. Otherwise, you can transfer registrars and renew domain with us for per year
You can check when your domain name is due for renewal by logging into web widgets or checking the results from any 'who is' search.
My Discount Domains
We used to be affiliated with MyDiscountDomains. If you purchased a .com from us before 2006, it is quite likely that it was purchased from our affiliate registrar. This registrar does not give us any access to manage your domains, and so management of those domains is quite difficult.
